The brilliant way to fix a spoiled socket

My mechanical keyboard has its LED socket at Esc key blurred out due to frequent soldering. A simple and brilliant way is to make 2 wires and connect to existing LED socket or pins.

The quality is pretty good. I shall start drawing some basic objects since the last time I drew was when I was 14 years old?

PBT keycap VS ABS keycap

The picture below is a visual comparison of PBT keycap VS ABS keycap after 8 months of usage:

:: PBT keycap still retain the texture feeling and doesn’t stain easily.

:: ABS keycap has a smooth and shiny surface, losing the original texture feeling. The keycap is also slightly stained after prolonged usage.

“K” in Intel i7

In case you are wondering what does the “K” behind each models means (such as i7 3750K, i7 3770K)…

It means that the processor has an unlocked multiplier.

The processor can be easily overclocked to much higher frequencies by increasing the CPU multiplier in the bios.

Hope this helps :)

This was how expensive Hard Disk was in the past…

Even SSD is cheaper nowadays!

OCZ Vertex 4 SSD

My main HDD for Windows which is a Hitachi brand, failed on me again for the third time.

After getting “poisoned” by the legendary ninja, I decided to get an OCZ Vertex 4 SSD since it is the only manufacturer that offers 5 years warranty for its SSD.

Expand your SD card on Raspberry Pi running on Raspbian “wheezy”

The Debian image of Raspbian “wheezy” is sized for a 2GB card. Hence, the maximum storage that it will use will be 2GB.

If you are using a SD card larger than 2GB, you will need to expand your SD card to make full use of the storage space. Sadly, the official guide of resizing flash partition didn’t work for me. But here is my way of resizing:

Boot into Raspberry Pi and login. Don’t go into graphical interface mode.

Enter the following command to get into Raspberry config:

sudo raspi-config

You will see the familiar config screen when you first boot up your Raspberry pi. Next, select the following:

expand_rootfs           Expand root partition to fill SD card

Raspberry pi will automatically expand your SD card to make full use of storage space. Once this is done, issue a restart command to reboot:

sudo shutdown -r now

Done!

Let me know if you face any problem :)
