Worst week for the Year 2009

Just as new year was going to begin, I was deeply encased in the worst week for the year of 2009. Some bad stuffs that I have gone through:

1: Pay Reduction (No more combat allowance for me) :(
2: Summon of $120 from Traffic Police (Damn sway)
3: Warning from Traffic Police for excessive smoke from my NSR exhaust
4: Handphone bill for last month came to $300++

I am seriously in a world of shit now! I really hope next year will be a good year for me….

More good years ahead~

Foxkeh Theme

If you miss Foxkeh, the Japanese FireFox mascot, then you will probably miss the theme! However, Foxkeh theme was not updated by the Japanese for Mozilla Firefox version 3.5 and above.

Nevertheless, there are always people out there trying to “revive” the theme. Try this new foxkeh theme. You definitely won’t regret.

Weird problem with wordpress

Since updating to WordPress version 2.9, my firefox can’t seem to get into the admin dashboard. It said that the “Connection was reset, Please try again later.”

Internet explorer and google chrome are perfectly fine. Anyone knows what the problem could be? I don’t think it could be my web-host since I can login with IE and chrome successfully.

Posted Out (Part 3)

Again, it marks a milestone of my NS life. I got posted to HQ-2PDF, CHRC , on this coming monday after zho-bo-lan staying awhile in 8SIR helping out the clerks and storemans.

My new vocation is a clerk because my major valued my ability in IT. Initially, S1 suggested that I were to be posted as a storeman staying in 8SIR. However, out of the grace of my superior heart, he felt that being a storeman for me is a waste of resource and manpower. (I fully agree) Therefore, he recommended that it would be good that the Army could put me somewhere related to the computers.

True enough, I got posted to be a clerk. However from what I heard, clerk in CHRC doesn’t do normal clerical jobs. I am not sure what will I be doing nor do I know what CHRC stands for.

Wait until I report on monday then I will update the tasks I am doing and the ‘real’ definition for CHRC. :)

Spark Plug Diagnosis

Spark plug plays an important role in your car or bike. A used spark plug can also be used to diagnosis what is happening on your engine, whether your engine is running good or poor.

Riding Motorcycle can keep you Healthy!

The scientist behind the popular “Brain Training” computer software said on Wednesday that a new study suggests riding motorcycles may help keep drivers young by invigorating their brains, the AFP reported.

Ryuta Kawashima and his research team at Yamaha Motor conducted a string of experiments involving middle-aged men and discovered that riding motorbikes activates the driver’s brain, in part because it requires heightened alertness.

Kawashima is the developer of “Brain Training” software, which incorporates quizzes and other games for the Nintendo DS game console under the name “Brain Age” in North America.

He said that the human mind and body gets used to setting the hurdle low when in a convenient and easy environment.

“Our final conclusion is that riding motorcycles can lead to smart aging,” he added.

Kawashima, the 49 year-old self-professed motorcycle fan, cited a new study conducted jointly by Yamaha and Tohoku University that explores the brain stimulation reported in motorcycle riders.

One of the studies observed 22 men in their 40s and 50s, who held motorcycle licenses but had not taken a ride for at least a decade.

After randomly being split into two groups, one group was asked to resume riding a motorcycle in their everyday life for two months, while the other kept using bicycles or cars.

Kawashima said the group that rode motorbikes posted higher marks in cognitive function tests.

Another test involved in the study required the men to remember a set of numbers in reverse order. Those who were active riders showed more than 50 percent score increases within two months, while the non-riders’ marks deteriorated slightly.

Motorcycle riders also reported making fewer mistakes at work and an overall happier feeling.

Kawashima stated that mental care is a very big issue in modern society.

“I think we made an interesting stir here as data showed you can improve your mental condition simply by using motorbikes to commute.”

Posted Out (Part 2)

I was out of course for Regimental Police Course at Clementi Camp. I tried to plead with my current superior, a Major (one big fat crab), to let me try and carry on with the course.

But he firmly decided and against that Pes C9L9 is not suitable for this vocation. Here I am, going to wait for a post out (revocation) again. Meanwhile, I would most probably be helping out in adminstrative works and staying-out unless circumstances forbid.

Honestly speaking, Clementi Camp is a good environment and those commanders there treat me quite well. Maybe the fact that it is a reservist camp so the regimentation is slightly lower. I really wish I could revocate within the camp because the life there is 101% better compared to Bedok Camp.

Nearly Skid to Death on PIE

It was drizzling and the road was wet. Undaunted by it and motivated to reach home, I just ride back. BUT, I skidded and nearly hit a moving van just because an uncle riding Honda Wave S in-front of me suddenly e-brake. Let me illustrate what happen with my “wonderful” picture:

A typical scenario on how I would ride whenever there is a jam on the expressway

Look, the uncle who was also lane-splitting, riding in-front of me

Out of a sudden, he jammed his brake and I jammed mine too to prevent hitting him

To attribute whose faults is it, I wouldn’t dare to say it is entirely the uncle faults. Maybe the car beside him were swerving near him so he have no choice but to e-brake.

On a neutral point of view, the road was wet and gripping of the tyres on the road is not well. The situation worsen when the tires is on the white strips as gripping will be very poor. LTA seem to use cheap paint for the white strips which result in the surface area being very smooth, which makes gripping a problem.

Over my part, I believe my Dunlop TT900, “proudly” made in Thailand, is contributing to this near accident. The gripping of this tires on a wet road is not very good when compared to Japan made tires. However, the durability of these tires are strong and can last a longer mileage.

In conclusion, I need to change my tires as soon as possible since the raining season is around the corner. Tires play a very important role when riding. Get a cheap Thailand tires, you’ll definitely find yourself into troubles when the road is wet even though you can save a lot of money in term of costs and lasting a longer mileage.

Refund must wait

I called up Paypal Singapore today to enquire why the refunded amount from Newmedia Express was not credited to my bank account. The customer service officer told me:

“Sir, it will takes 30 to 40 days for the amount to appear in your bank account. But don’t worry, the amount will be refunded back to you. “
