The good old days (Part 1)

Team Rabbit History… Are you interested? If yes, carry on reading…

Usagi (Rabbit in Japanese),was founded in Republic Poly when we were doing our first Final Year Project.

It comprises of 4 team-mates initially (actually not really initially, read up later):

#1 – MingEn-chan
#2 – Robert
#3 – Albert
#4 – ME

We have a lot of “birds” in the team, the most carrot chopping I guess is Robird…

Starting, Robert wasn’t supposed to be with us. It was xiao hong, a guy who did Java Jive with us, in our team. But due to his “pong teng” patterns, he was eventually dropped out of the team.

Well well, situation get more and more complex when Albert roped in a girl called Stella I think. At that point of time, mingen-chan and I didn’t think the girl will performed well. We went to invite Mr Robert to join us because the 3 of us get along very well, especially Robert was in my class at that point of time, Year 2 Semester 2. Moreover, Robert is not counted as “cha pa lang” programmer.

I will cut short the story on how the girl were kick out. Eventually, we instill Robert in our team and replace that girl with him.

When it comes to choosing FYP, we chose our project dilligently, choosing easy project as we are very sure we will complete in a very fast time and slack around.

However, life is unfair. A facilitator who was our advisor from Java Jive, Simon Lau, also known as Garfield by us, push us to do a special project called,

Online Beer Game

We were like ^&@%#%&$@%#$%^@%$# !!!! We rejected the idea of doing this project because in the first place, we don’t understand how it works nor have the interest in doing it as it was a supply-chain management game. But Garfield used underhand methods and we were given this project when the FYP assignment came out.

A screenshot of this stupid game:

In addition, we were stuck at drawing diagrams, like use-case and etc when doing this project. Until week 9, we were still drawing diagrams. No codes were actually written for the project. This would have to thank Garfield for insisting that we should follow by the book, drawing diagram before writing the codes. Not only these, he insisted that we should write test-cases to test our application. Fark Up! But have to admit our design or writing skills is weaker than our programming.

Due to the tremendous stress we faced, we also know how to enjoy ourselves. Some of the classic games we played when we met-up to do the project and play game:

Marvel VS Capcom

Metal Slug

Marvel VS Street Fighter

Sometimes, I wondered we are doing project or playing games because the amount of time playing is more than doing project. ;) Whenever we eat finish, we will find excuses like, rest or tired and started playing game. Even after dinner time we still play games till we went home around 10pm. We are hardworking to stay up late to do FYP.

Nevertheless, we managed to write finish the codes with the test-cases and presented it to the school. We were still able to get good grade despite the difficulties we faced. Aside from this, Garfield also promised that our transcript for our FYP will be “very beautiful” because the title for this FYP would be NTU Online Beer Game as the game is meant to be developed for NTU. We were very happy because we thought this would increased our chance when we apply for Uni in future.

However when we graduated and receive our certificates and transcripts, it turned out to be NTU Online Beer Game Online Beer Beer Game. Tell me who the fark is going to understand? Tell me what is this? Tell me how it works? Tell me who is going to pay!?

Okay, this is Part 1 because the story is very long and I am tired liao. Haha :)

To be continued…

I am feeling depressed

Because I feel that ?????.

?? (Cao Cao) once said: “??????, ???????”.

Soon, it will be time for karma to pay back.

I promised assured.

New theme

Sick of previous theme as it was unfriendly to users who wanted to comment.

Now, this is so much better. More customization to come when I am free :)

Guess which Uni I select ?!

And I only got 2 choices, since I only applied these 2 prestigious local university:

Now guess, which one would I choose?

Embedding YouTube video in phpBB3

The pay-to-use vBulletin can embed youtube or google video into the message. So can phpBB 3 !!!

Firstly, logon to your Administration Control Panel (ACP) using your administrator account.

Secondly, click on the Posting tab, you will arrive at here:

Thirdly, click the Add a new BBCode button in the bottom right hand corner:

If everything is successful, do the following:

# Enter the following under BBCode Usage:

[youtube]{TEXT}[/youtube]

# Enter the following under HTML replacement:

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{TEXT}" wmode="transparent" style="width:400px; height:326px;" id="VideoPlayback" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="">

And if you would like the youtube tag to appear on the posting page like as below,

# Ensure that Display on posting page is checked.

You should now have a YouTube button available from your posting interface.

Lastly, to embed the YouTube or Google video, copy the embed URL and paste it in between the youtube tag, like as below:

So, that’s all for today. phpBB3 can still fight with vBulletin given the available resources and the right configurations.

4-Stroke Bike Engine Condition through Exhaust Smoke

#1. Colourless or slightly blue smoke from exhaust
This means that your bike is very good condition. What you can assume is your fuel/air mixture is at the right composition and everything is well burnt is your combustion chamber.

#2. Yellow or brownish smoke from exhaust
Your fuel/air mixture is too lean. Too lean means that there is low fuel but high air mixture in your combustion chamber.
Solution: Adjust the fuel/air mixture at your carburetor (or ECU) accordingly.

#3. Black smoke from exhaust
Your fuel/air mixture is too rich. High fuel but low air intake. This will reduce your fuel efficiency since the black smoke is your unburnt fuel.
The problem might be at this part:
i. Your air filter is dirty or blocked from receiving air from surrounding.
ii.Your choke is closed
iii. Your carburetor is damaged
Solution:
i.Clean/replace air filter
ii.Open choke
iii.Repair/replace your carburetor.

#4. White smoke from exhaust
This happen when your engine oil gets into the combustion chamber.
The problem might be at this part:
i. Piston ring is loose
ii. Piston is worn out
iii. Engine block is worn out/scratched
iv. Valve is worn out/damaged
v. Valve line is worn out/scratched
Solution:
i. Replace piston ring
ii. Rebore block and replace piston
iii. same with no. ii
iv. Replace valve
v. Rebore valve line and replace valve.

Sometimes white smoke can also occur in the morning or you start your bike after it is being left on the rain. The white smoke is the water vapour released from the condensation that happens inside your exhaust. Normally, this happens only for few minutes and then it will be back to colourless again. The difference from white water vapour smoke and white exhaust smoke is the smell. What I can say is, the smell from engine oil being burnt is your combustion chamber is bad and very busuk. Water vapour doesn’t have any smell.

Happy Birthday to me

My big fat wish:
- Honda Wave X :D

The feeling is sad…

A lot of my so called “brother” and “friends” have been making fun of me for selling my bike. This is because I have did an overhaul of the bike and down-payment such a huge amount of money and sold it to the shop eventually.

I was pretty sad about it because neither an encouragement words nor a “put themselves in my shoe” feeling was given to me. I am also sad that I can’t get another bike now because of my budget constraints and consider the amount of my savings being put to purchase and repairs the previous bike. Instead of leaving me alone, these so called fukers rub salts on my wounds. :(

Surprisingly, I have a buddy called Chris who was riding CBR150, the same as what I have rode previously. He encourage me not to think so much. Some of the words he gave:

- don take it to heart la
- u tried to save her, but couldn’t
- don say la…. they don understand
- don so angry
- they not u of cos they donno

her refers to my “xiao hong”.

At least the words he said make my days.

Bye Bye CBR150

I rode it less than 2 months and I sold it off. I know by selling off I am making a huge losses but I seriously have no choice. The bike I got is pretty problematic. I have already spent about $500 in repairing but the problems still persists. Time to say good bye then.

Some pictures when my bike was in the repairing process:

It is really beyond economical repairs to make it back as good. I push back to the shop that I bought and as expect, a lot of “lan jiao wei” from them. Quite fuck up with them.

Enough said, a last picture in memory of my “xiao hong”:

You have served me well. Hope no one takes you because you are very problematic!
